Observing The Daily Office is something I have done in various seasons of my life. When I have observed this practice of slowing down and pausing to center on the One who created me, then my life has been much more doable. In the seasons in which I have neglected to do so, my life has been a mess such as the current season of my life.
As I reading a book, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, by Peter Scazzero (which I highly recommend) I was prompted with an image...chai. As he described the routine of pausing and centering on God, I thought of the natural pauses which occur here every day around chai breaks. I recognized how the practice of The Daily Office is naturally built into this society and culture unlike my own. Now it doesn't have any benefits if chai time is used for shop talk, but if used intentionally it could actually produce some healthy fruit.
